Event Information

Mend and Sparkle

This year marks 15 years since the first repair café opened by Martine Postma in The Netherlands. Since then over 2500 repair cafes have opened around the world. Repair cafes offer free repairs and an opportunity to learn new repair skills. They play a very important role in the transition to circular economies, reduce waste and bring many social and economical benefits.

This event is free but booking is required.

What is this event about?

Come and find out what repair café is and get introduced to a repair community group who will share their experience and inspiration.

The event will feature a talk by Jane Dixon, Sharing and Repair Network Leader about how to start a repair cafe. She will introduce you to the Network and benefits of being a member of the Sharing community. The second talk will present Grow West Fife Repair Story.

During the event a textile repairer will offer basic clothes repairs and she will also demonstrate a small upcycling project for Christmas. This will provide experience of a mini repair cafe.

Do you have a Christmas outfit or a soft toy that needs repairing – bring it with you and watch a textile repairer in action.
