Demystifying COP26: A beginner’s guide

Demystifying COP26: A beginner’s guide

Event Information

The 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) is taking place in Glasgow this year and will see world leaders come together to discuss progress made and future plans to tackle the global climate crisis.

But what on earth is COP?! Who will be there and what will they be doing? What will world leaders be discussing? And what will the outcome of the negotiations mean for us globally, in Scotland and in Fife?

At this event, we will hear from expert speakers who aim to answer these questions and more. Perfect for those who want to get to grips with this vital climate conference.

We will finish by celebrating local climate action by sharing progress of our Climate Action Fife project.

Our speakers:

– Catherine Payne, Climate Resilience Manager, Sniffer – Will consider what meeting the Paris targets (or not) might mean for us globally and in Scotland, and what a successful outcome of COP26 might look like.

– Lukas Hardt, Well Being Economy Alliance – Will explain what a Wellbeing Economy is and how decisions made at COP26 could help create an economy of health, fairness and a future that works for everyone.

– Ross Spalding, Climate Change and Zero Waste Service Manager, Fife Council  – Will explain how COP26 outcomes might influence the council’s approach to tackling the climate emergency.

– Craig Leitch, Senior Development Worker, Greener Kirkcaldy  – Will give an introduction to the Climate Action Fife project and its progress to date. Including a call to action with our #BigFiveForFife campaign.
