Rolling with the Punctures with Mike Elm

Rolling with the Punctures with Mike Elm

Event Information

Kicking off Greener Kirkcaldy’s “Seasons for Cycling” year-long festival of cycling, come along and hear from Mike Elm and his “Rolling with the Punctures” cycling adventures.

Mike says: “Rolling with the punctures is a state of mind.”

It’s also an 8,000km bumpy bike ride that Mike Elm went on in 2023 from his dad’s home country of England to his mother’s home country of Greece via Tunisian Sandstorms, Bosnian mountains and Albanian errr… also mountains, and some places in between.

Hear about hunting for Roman aqueducts, meeting the Amazigh people in Tunisia, learning the ancient Kanun laws of Albania, Europe’s deepest canyon, scorpions, midnight boars, real forests, sweet ‘grav’ and coming face to face with the climate crisis. Expect silly puns and sweet pics from Mike’s 7 months on and off the road.”

Programme:

6pm – 7pm – Nibbles and natter. Light bites and tea and coffee will be provided

7pm – 8:30pm – Rolling with the Punctures talk with Mike Elm.

8:30pm – 11pm – Cycle ride. We will head out into the Summer Solstice evening for a group ride to take in the magnificent views across the Forth Estuary. Punctures will hopefully be kept to an absolute minimum, if not to zero!
