Gears & chain maintenance

Gears & chain maintenance

Event Information

In this session, we will cover some basic but crucial ways to maintain your bike’s Gears & Chain.

We will run through the names of the parts of your bike: Drivetrain (gears/chain/mechs etc). We will discuss and demonstrate how to perform basic maintenance on these components to allow you to keep your bike running well in between annual servicing.

There will also be some hands on adjusting of the derailleurs on your bike and how to spot why your gears aren’t working as well as they should.

This course is run by qualified mechanical staff at Lang Toun Cycles.

No mechanical experience is needed.

Tea, coffee and water will be provided

Ideally, you should bring along your own bike or, if you like, you can use one of our provided bikes. We will provide the required tools, protective equipment and work stands.

You will have the opportunity to purchase tools.

Please wear clothing you do not mind getting dirty as you will be dealing with grease and grime. Aprons and gloves will also be provided.
