Fife Pilgrim Way bike ride – Markinch to Leven (via Windygates)

Fife Pilgrim Way bike ride – Markinch to Leven (via Windygates)

Event Information

Follow the Back Burn out of the village of Markinch through to Windygates and then on to the coastal town of Leven. Markinch’s St Drostan’s Church was once a stopping point for medieval pilgrims as they made their way to St Andrew’s Cathedral.

This ride is part of a series of rides to cover most of the Fife Pilgrim Way and is ideal for people looking to explore Fife off-road.

In this series, we have broken down the long distance into shorter sections. There are public transport options at the start point at Markinch Rail Station and finish point Leven Rail Station with local bus options also available at the nearby Leven bus station.

Route Information

  • Distance – long
  • Hills – hilly. Includes several hills (which you can push your bike up if needed).
  • Surfaces – a mixture of off-road trails
  • Route – mainly off-road, on traffic-free paths, with some quiet roads.
