Climate Friendly Gardens – Fruit tree care workshop

Climate Friendly Gardens – Fruit tree care workshop

Event Information

This workshop will be led by Kit Cubitt from CLEAR. If you have met Kit before, perhaps when picking up your tree from the A Fruit Tree for Every Garden in Fife campaign, then you'll know how passionate he is about fruit trees and making sure all tree owners feel confident looking after their young trees.

This workshop will take place in the EATS Rosyth Community Orchard located in Park Rd, Rosyth. Whether you picked up a free tree, bought or inherited a fruit tree earlier this year or simply are interested in tree care or have questions about the health of your tree and would like to know how best care for it and prepare for winter, this workshop is for you!

The topics covered in the workshop will include discussion about all the factors which might impact your tree's development and fruiting, including the location where your tree is planted, common issues or diseases which may arise in coming years, and how to solve them.

You will learn when, what and how to prune your tree, if and how you need to protect it from frost and there will also be practical demonstrations showing amount, proximity, timing, and best placement of mulch and tags with plenty of room for your own questions.

Teas and coffees will be provided. You are also invited to stay on for more activities in the orchard on the 28th of September as we will celebrate our Apple Festival on that day with a range of activities for all ages.

This event is suitable for beginners. This event will be mostly outdoors with some shelter under the Orchard's classroom patio. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing for the weather.
