Lead Partner - Greener Kirkcaldy

Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity and development trust working locally to combat the climate emergency, tackle fuel poverty and food insecurity, and bring people together for a more sustainable Kirkcaldy. We deliver a range of projects, events and skills training to meet the needs and goals of local people – working towards a future where everyone can live better and tread more lightly on our planet.

Based in the heart of Kirkcaldy – with a community building, bike shop and garden – we carry out activities across Kirkcaldy and work with partners to deliver projects across Fife.

Fife Council

Fife Council declared a Climate Emergency in September 2019 and is not alone. They are delivering a Climate Fife Action Plan through all of their work. It’s a flexible document that sets out how they will work with partners, such as those involved in the Climate Action Fife project and communities over the next 10 years to become:

  • Climate friendly, transforming how we live to become carbon neutral;
  • Climate ready, helping Fife communities and the economy minimise any impacts from unavoidable climate change; and
  • Climate just, making sure all Fifers and our environment benefit from this transition.

Fife College

Throughout their courses of study, extra circular activities and infrastructure, Fife College are making massive moves to help fight against the Climate Emergency. Including getting involved as a Climate Action Fife partner.

Fife college already takes part in green month, influencing up-cycling of old items into new ones. They also work towards influencing students and staff to cycle to work/college to reduce carbon emissions. Their hairdressing salons are eco-friendly; they use as little chemicals as possible when doing treatments on clients and they have also planted over 400 trees at the Dunfermline and Glenrothes Campuses.
